The filming of Universe/CCTV’s Great Navigation (formerly known as Zheng He and the Seven Sea Voyages) is in full swing. Filming locations include Hai Nan, Beijing, & Hengdian. Gallen as the great Admiral Zheng has spent many working hours along his Emperor, played by Mainland veteran actor Tang Guo Qiang. This is the second time the two cooperate, last time they played as opposite Emperors in CCTV’s Lady Wang in Exile, which will be aired this year. Tang, aside from being a great actor, is a ranked calligrapher. Gallen had once expressed his excitement in being able to talk to Tang, as the former is quite into calligraphy himself. The two actors do have a greater degree of interaction this time. Gallen will portrait Zheng He over a range of age from the early 30s on, as the drama spans the Ming’s dynasty incredible development of navigation, trade, and economical growth over time.
